Amo (stylised in lowercase) is the sixth studio album by British rock band Bring Me the Horizon. Originally scheduled for release on 11 January 2019, it was released on 25 January 2019. The album was announced on 22 August 2018, a day after the release of the lead single "Mantra". It was produced by frontman Oliver Sykes and keyboardist Jordan Fish, and was written and recorded primarily in Los Angeles.

Amo, often stylised as amo, ᴀᴍᴏ or amo (Portuguese word for love ) is Bring Me the Horizon’s sixth studio album. Described by Jordan Fish as the toughest thing he’d ever done in his life, it continues to depart from the band’s metalcore roots towards a more alternative rock sound. This album’s the follow up to the band’s critically acclaimed fifth record That’s The Spirit. As the title amo indicates, the album is much about love. Bring Me The Horizon teased a song for weeks, calling the teasers as 250mg and 400mg. After some days, it was revealed that medicine was dropping on January 3rd. mother tongue was choose as the album’s fourth single and nihilist blues as the fifth. What have the artists said about the album?

How much do you think you know about amo? You’ve been indoctrinated by the magnificent Mantra. You’ve ridden the edge of a knife with the wildly unpredictable Wonderful Life. You’ve tasted the melodic dose of Medicine.

Bring Me The Horizon return with amo, a genre-grossing blend of pop, rock and EDM synth that'll turn heads, alienate metal fans and increase their fan base. Well, that was certainly an experience I never thought I’d ever have listening to a Bring Me The Horizon album, but for what it’s worth, the guys have attempted to try something completely different and out of their usual comfort zone and still managed to hit the mark with some key aspects of the release, minus a couple of bumps along.

Speaking about their newest record ‘Amo‘, Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes described the inspiration for it’s title as being about the complexity of love. Sykes proves this when he even apologises on the album’s atmospheric, high-pitched preface, opener ‘I Apologise If You Feel Something‘; that if this release makes you feel something, just know that it’s intended to be heard as a personal narrative reflecting upon his last few years ( please remember it is mine ). The first type of love that Sykes chooses to talk about is a controlling one, where ‘Amo‘ becomes centred around that idea of master.
