Calculating Infinity is the debut studio album by American metalcore band The Dillinger Escape Plan. Recorded at Trax East Recording Studio in South River, New Jersey, it was produced by engineer Steve Evetts with the band's guitarist Ben Weinman and drummer Chris Pennie, and released on September 28, 1999 by Relapse Records. The album is the band's only full-length album to feature original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis, who left the band in 2001.

Before the breakthrough success of The Dillinger Escape Plan's first full-length, Calculating Infinity, the band had honed its style to near-perfection on their first EP on Relapse Records, Under The Running Board. A mere three songs still managed to develop a signature sound for DEP and make a name for them in the underground music sect. For the most part, Under The Running Board is a taste of what is to come for DEP. Most of it is blistering metal, oddly-timed rhythms that tear across the small length of recording. The sound is still very raw and well done, and the clear intent throughout the album is to give you something tangible before it leaves the listener in the dust.

the Dillinger Escape Plan are brilliant (that they've sold out, that the music makes no sense and goes nowhere, you can't understand what the singer is saying). They're not yet ready to sit down and fully listen to something as complex as the Dillinger Escape Plan. One person found this helpful.

The Dillinger Escape Plan formed in 1997 from the remains of lead guitarist Ben Weinman’s previous punk band, Arcane. The group is based out of Morris Plains, New Jersey, United States and in addition to Weinman originally consisted of vocalist Dimitri Minakakis and drummer Chris Pennie. The members recorded their first demo under the name Dillinger Escape Plan and with it attracted offers from Now or Never Records. Their first release through the label was their 1998 EP Under the Running Board. Though it initially had only 3 tracks, it was re-issued 10 years later, featuring an additional 10 tracks, including a Black Sabbath cover and several live recordings. Dillinger Escape Plan continued the trend of releasing one album every three years with Option Paralysis coming out in 2010 and One of Us Is a Killer finding a release in 2013.

Ok, so I've got one more post to make before the year's out. Today (December 29, 2017) marks the final day of this band's existence, since they've decided to burn out instead of fade away. Their final show is tonight, and their last album was released last year. This band has had an insane career throughout their 20 year existence, marked by numerous line-up changes, explosive live shows, and consistently hard-hitting, forward-thinking albums. Without a doubt they are one of the greatest, most progressive and influential bands in hardcore and metal, and this is the perfect.
