The Meters - Second Line Strut flac album

Cissy Strut" is a 1969 funk instrumental by The Meters. Released as a single from their eponymous debut album, it reached No. 4 on the R&B chart and No. 23 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Meters recorded a follow-up, "Sophisticated Cissy", which was included on the same album. The song was also featured in the 1997 film Jackie Brown. Club called the song a "classic" deeply rooted in New Orleans music tradition.

The Meters formed in 1965, with a line up of keyboardist and vocalist Art Neville, guitarist Leo Nocentelli, bassist George Porter Jr. and drummer Zigaboo Modeliste, and became the house band for Sansu Enterprises, an Allen Toussaint-owned label. The Meters were a band that performed and recorded from the late 1960s until 1977. They were based in New Orleans.

The song "They All Ask'd for You" from the 1975 album Fire on the Bayou remains popular in the New Orleans region and is the unofficial theme song of the Audubon Zoo.
