The film opens with a taiko drum performance by three boys.

And the song in the Isle Of Dogs trailer is particularly noteworthy. The two-and-a-half minute promo starts with a soundtrack of drums and Japanese-inflected music, appropriate for the film's setting in a futuristic version of that East Asian archipelago. The words definitely speak to the movie's story of a young man on a quest to find something he's lost; with no one to guide him - the only human in a land populated entirely by animals - he's driven by a burning desire to regain the part of himself that's missing. Only, in Isle Of Dogs, that missing thing is a boy's pet rather than a man's pride.

Directed by Wes Anderson. Written by Wes Anderson. Okay, it's worth it. Get out of here and don't come back. I've seen cats with more balls than you dogs.

They call me obscene There's just no empathy But I'm at the top of the world No one looks down on me From commercial road To the old city Every day we invent The economy. I don’t need to be liked But join me on my journey Sweet Thames run soft ‘Til I end my story Past the island of dogs The river flows to the sea The cradle of our wealth She carries lovingly.

The Isle of Dogs is a large peninsula bounded on three sides by a large meander in the River Thames in East London, England, which includes the Poplar, Millwall, Limehouse and Canary Wharf districts. The name had no official status until the 1987 creation of the Isle of Dogs Neighbourhood by Tower Hamlets London Borough Council. The whole area was once simply known as Stepney Marsh; Anton van den Wyngaerde's "Panorama of London" dated 1543 depicts and refers to the Isle of Dogs.

The Isle of Dogs is within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. History of the Isle of Dogs. The needs of ex-dockers and fishermen still living in the area often clashes with the desires of business people earning lots of money, and in the Isle of Dogs you’ll see social housing, high-rise apartment buildings, new build homes and plush, quaint cottages. Outside of Canary Wharf you can stumble upon areas that will make you think you’re in the countryside, whilst on one side of Kew Bridge you’ll find office buildings, on the other there’ll be pretty little cottages, noughties terraces meet waterside apartments and there are lots and lots of new builds

Isle of Dogs concerns the efforts of a plucky 12-year-old boy, Atari (Koyu Rankin), to retrieve his beloved short-haired Oceanic speckle-eared sport hound, Spots (Liev Schreiber), from an offshore island dump outside the fictional near-future Japanese metropolis of Megasaki City, whose despotic mayor Kobayashi (Kunichi Nomura) has banished canines from city grounds after an. outbreak of infectious snout fever. In short, it’s a classic Anderson romp. The eastern instrumentation appropriate to the setting-the taiko drumming arrangements by Kaoru Watanabe that bookend the film in particular-is complemented by Desplat’s own sensibility, which is rooted in the Hollywood tradition.
