The Quinta del Sordo (English: Villa of the Deaf), or Quinta de Goya, was the name of an extensive estate and country house situated on a hill in the old municipality of Carabanchel on the outskirts of Madrid. The house is best known as the home of Francisco de Goya in the years leading up to his exile, and where he painted the Black Paintings comprising fourteen murals.

When the Queen II album came out in 1974, those who heard it were impressed and spiritually uplifted. Queen had arrived in style and Freddie could give up his weekend job and concentrate on the great times that lay ahead. A month after releasing their debut album Queen returned to Trident Studios to commence work on the follow-up, tentatively titled ‘Over The Top’ – an idea that didn’t amuse EMI any more than ‘Dearie Me’ had for its predecessor.

After their last album, Ratatat struggled with perfectionism. In a recent interview, they explained that during the Magnifique sessions, the two musicians hashed out material they couldn’t help but hold a knife to. Their own creative process stressed them out to the point of tossing out 50-something tracks. The basement beer pong duo are in their thirties now, and their music has grown up, too. Five years allowed them to properly flesh out a record with cleansers between the hits. It’s not filler; these are fine details hidden in the unified whole that make the album a proper listen from front to back, hence the smooth yet dainty Intro and Outro tracks. The edges of each track fizz with lo-fi crinkling - the album starts with the sound of someone turning a radio knob and voices cutting in. Glass breaks in the back of Countach and bass snaps in the distance of Cold Fingers.

It consists of 70 % postcards and behind one of them were a feldpost adress, "35864" with relates to "Kleine Kraftwagen-Kolonne -Kolonne 25.
