Recorded on the tour for Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors, "Pigpens Birthday" is great live album featuring Fish & Marillion tunes. From start to finish the show is terrific. The songs themselves are full of energy, as the band is truly in fantastic form. The songlist is basically half Fish songs and half Marillion songs - since this was Fish's first solo tour. The songs from "Vigil" are delivered with with precision and power, and the Marillion songs have a fresh perspective put on them.

With only two solo studio albums preceeding, naturally this live-2CD contains Marillion songs quite a lot and that's nice principally. But they aren't well chosen: Punch & Judy, Assassing, Kayleigh, Lavender, Heart of Lothian, Sugar Mice - all single hits. Script' makes a good exception into the proggier side.
