In the End is a moving album and a worthy epitaph for O’Riordan and the band’s legacy, but it leaves you wanting something more, something you’ll never get to hear: the comfort of knowing everything worked out OK. It’s a reminder that grief lingers. The demo vocals she’d already recorded are pretty much album-ready, their slightly unpolished edge even helping throw back to the band’s 1992 debut album ‘Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We?’, home to the ayed ‘Linger’. It’s rare indeed that a farewell brings a career so neatly full-circle.
Elementary (The End album). Elementary is the third and final album released by the Canadian band The End. This album is a departure from their mathcore sound present on their first two albums and is more rock-oriented, featuring lighter melodies and clean vocals mixed with growling.
The Cranberries are set to release ‘All Over Now’, the first song from In The End, their final studio album with Dolores O’Riordan, on 15 January. The new track is to be released to mark the first anniversary of O’Riordan’s death in 2018. During rehearsals we discussed many times how great it would be to write and work on new material.
The lyrics are based on the struggles lead singer Chester Bennington went through growing up. He was often picked on. This video was shot on a Los Angeles sound stage. The statue's head, where the band is performing, was built there, but the rest was CGI. The areas where Mike is standing "in the desert" are real - he was sitting on real grass and he was walking on real stones, but they were about 10 feet by 5 feet. It's like a cycle of life (the song starts and ends with the piano) - the desert is very dead, but the rain comes and at the end, there's flowers and rivers and butterflies. In March 2001, 15-year-old Charles Andrew Williams shot and killed two of his classmates at his high school in Santee, California. He left a note for his father with the lyrics to this as an attempt to explain his feelings.
