One of Barbra Streisand's more esoteric projects, Classical Barbra is an album of European art songs composed by Debussy, Handel, Schumann, and others and sung in French, German, Latin, Italian, and English. Streisand is in typically good voice, and while the album must have been a stretch for her usual audience and a surprise to the classical audience, she carries the performances off. Track Listing.

Why? Because this classical album shows her range of ability as a singer. Sure, she can belt out show tunes like nobody's business, but this kind of music takes finesse, grace, and even tenderness. Barbra does all of that so well on this recording. I've had the LP (vinyl album) since she first recording this music in the 70's. I am delighted to have it on CD now.
