Don't Worry, Be Happy" is a popular worldwide hit song by American musician Bobby McFerrin. Released in September 1988, it became the first a cappella song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, a position it held for two weeks. The Indian mystic and sage Meher Baba (1894–1969) often used the expression "Don't worry, be happy" when cabling his followers in the West.

Don't Worry Be Happy" was for the second and third of those three weeks. I grew up listening to the whole album, so there will always be a soft spot for McFerrin, even though many people dislike this song (after a while listening to it non stop gets a bit annoying, and then it became so popular that Bob couldn't do anything as good or better that he became known as a one hit wonder).

Don't Worry, Be Happy, a 1988 EMI release, is an attempt to consolidate the breadth of McFerrin's talent onto one album. Predictably, it starts off with the title track, a song that will probably remain prevalent in pop culture as long as humans speak English and play music. For the most part, though, the pop stops there. On a couple of cuts, he teams up with jazz pianist Chick Corea. His two-man show Fool Moon played on Broadway for six years, and he can be seen in movies, television, and in the theater. At the 1988 Grammy Awards, "Don't Worry Be Happy" won 'Best Song of the Year. The album 'Simple Pleasures' won 'Album of the Year' and 'Best Pop Vocal Performance.
