The Corries' album, Strings and Things (1970), was specifically designed to showcase these instruments and featured detailed descriptions of them on the rear sleeve. Usually the combolins were played to accompany long ballads such as "The Silkie of Sule Skerry" and "The Gartan Mother's Lullaby", as well as a number of the compositions of Peebles baker George Weir, including "Lord Yester" and "Weep ye Weel by Atholl". Many of The Corries recordings have now been re-issued on CD by Moidart Music, a company set up originally to release Williamson's posthumous Long Journey South solo album. a b "CORRIES - full Official Chart History - Official Charts Company".

Perfil: Scottish folk music duo Roy Williamson and Ronnie Browne. Started off in 1962 as the The Corrie Folk Trio made up of Roy Williamson, Bill Smith, and Ron Cruikshank who parted company soon after and so Ronnie Browne joined. They also teamed up for a while with Irish singer Paddie Bell. By 1965 Bill and Paddie had moved on and Roy and Ronnie carried on as a duo called The Corries. Roy wrote 'Flower of Scotland' in the mid sixties. Scots took the song to their heart. Strings And Things (Album).
