Tony Orlando was born Michael Anthony Orlando Cassavitis on April 3, 1944. Orlando recorded through the 1960s with only moderate chart success

At age 16 he was discovered by producer Don Kirshner. In 1970 he formed DAWN, which featured singers Telma Hopkins (from Louisville) and Joyce Vincent (from Detroit). Had his own TV variety show: "Tony Orlando and Dawn" from 1974-76. Tony opened the Tony Orlando Yellow Ribbon Music Theater in Branson, Missouri

It was such a hit, the network brought them back in the winter and Bell records released the aptly titled PRIME TIME album to coincide with their weekly TV show. Progressing from the ragtime sound of their previous release, PRIME TIME was another gold smash and became the groups’ highest charting album. Includes the hit single "Look in My Eyes Pretty Woman.
