New CHEAP TRICK Album 'We're All Alright!' due June 16. "Y'know, we always write, but it's more fun to write for a project and write for a reason," guitarist Rick Nielsen tells Billboard. We have a company (Big Machine Records) that believes in us and they like the work and they're letting us make more records, which is cool. Making records is one of the ambitions we've always had. I don't think the desire has ever gone away.
Cheap Trick’s We’re All Alright! is as good as ‘they’ say it i. ut the deeper one goes into the track listing the more they discover just how good it is! Loo. he band did mix up the Who and The Kinks for the riff to the opener You Got It Going On. Sure, that’s cool and the song rocks. She’s Alright is an old school tune that begs to be listened to over and over again. This song just makes one want to sit on the porch, sip lemonade with your best girl and realize how gawd-damn good life is. The 9th song, Listen To Me has lots of that frantic geetar low bass string run stuff that makes Trick sound best cranked up. Nothing fanc. his one is just attitude, balls and old men proving their music is better than today’s kids musi. omplete with plenty of middle finger lyrics!
40 years after putting out their first album, Cheap Trick shows no signs of letting down, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Classic members Robin Zander, Rick Nielsen, and Tom Petersson are still making great music, proving to the fans that age is just a number. With Bun E. Carlos no longer behind the drum stool, Rick’s son Daxx Nielsen has stepped up to the plate, his first release with the band having been last year’s Bang Zoom Crazy Hello, which I proudly declared one of the best releases of 2016.
