Fiddler's Green is a legendary supposed afterlife, where there is perpetual mirth, a fiddle that never stops playing, and dancers who never tire.

The fact that the Toronto-based Friends of Fiddler's Green have managed to operate almost entirely under the radar of the folk-music mainstream in the United States is probably equally due to that mainstream's obliviousness and to the vagaries of independent record distribution between the two countries

Fiddler’s green Lyrics. There's a sad tale I'll tell you of a sailor man's life How his love for the high seas it cost him a wife When I've told you my story I'm sure you'll agree It's not but pure folly when a man goes to sea Just a young man of twenty I was courting a lass

Eternity/The Road to Mandalay. Eternity"/"The Road to Mandalay" is the fifth single from Robbie Williams' 2000 Sing When You're Winning album, released in July 2001. Eternity" does not appear in the album but it was later included on Williams' Greatest Hits album. The lyrics of "Eternity" were written as a tribute to Williams' close friendship with Geri Halliwell and was the 20th best selling single of 2001 in the UK.

Fiddler’s Green – the sailor’s vision of heaven. Fiddler’s Green is sometimes said to have been influenced or even borrowed from a much earlier song called, Wrap me up in my Old Tarpaulin Jacket, but although there are similarities in the theme and bits of phrasing, there’s no doubt Conolly’s work is a unique and original song. Conolly acknowledged on the Mudcat online folk music forum that that he got the idea for the first line of his chorus from Tarpaulin Jacket – wrap me up in my old tarpaulin jacket – but that was about as far as the influence went. See videos page for a recording of Wrap me up in my Old Tarpaulin Jacket.
