Much the Same is a punk rock band from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Their style is based on the fast, melodic skate punk of the mid-to-late 1990s made popular by bands such as NOFX, Lagwagon, and No Use for a Name. The band began in 1999 under the name Don't Look Down and changed to Much The Same in 2001 after a legal dispute with the now-defunct New Jersey band Don't Look Down. They released Quitters Never Win on A-F Records in 2003 and Survive in 2006.

Survive opens with "The Greatest Betrayal," which most fans have probably heard at this point, as it's the one that's been on their MySpace page about a year now. It has been re-recorded though, with a new ending that adds an extra refrain.

Much the Same has a knack for taking music that, by 2006, should sound tired and tedious, and instead, churns it out with a vitality that energizes ears and incites both impassioned singalongs and spirited steering wheel drumming sessions  . From the opening burst of "The Greatest Betrayal," Survive is full of nothing but potent shots of adrenaline-laced rock for those aching for fast, melodic, no-frills, chant-along punk. Much the Same has more than just delivered on album number two - they've made a record you'd be sorry to miss.

The last few years I thought that things would never change All in the same moment I know it cannot stay the same As this chapter ends and a new one begins again, I hope you find your way. This is not where I wanted to go Thought we'd see this together Though you'll travel a different road You'll always be my friend.
