We understand the relationship between mind and body. World Eater, the new album by Benjamin John Power’s Blanck Mass project, is a reaction to this. There is an underlying violence and anger throughout the record, even though some of these tracks are the closest Power has ever come to writing, in his words, actual love songs. Maybe subconsciously this was some kind of countermeasure to restore some personal balance, Power explains.

The Eater of Worlds is a pre-Hardmode giant Corruption-themed worm boss. It is summoned using the Worm Food from within The Corruption, or by destroying 3 Shadow Orbs that spawn in Corruption worlds. The Eater of Worlds is not a single target, but a string of 50 segments (1 head, 48 body, 1 tail) with individual life counters. When any inner segment is destroyed, it splits into multiple smaller worms, each with their own head and tail

World Eater’ finds itself skipping around kicking up the ashes of the terrain it just razed, equal parts intimidating and scatterbrained. Personally, I think Blanck Mass' World Eater is a massively enjoyable experience to listen to, in fact it's been a while since I last enjoyed an electronic album this much. For some reason i've just been incredibly enamoured with this record since it came out and I haven't put it down at all. I've come to the conclusion that in my opinion, Benjamin uses repetition, clever pacing and hypnotic sampling to create an experience that is truly mesmerising.

World Eater ‎(CD, Album). Sacred Bones Records. Musically this is a 5 star album. This pressing just doesn't do it justice.
