Who Built the Moon? is the third studio album by English rock band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. It was released on 24 November 2017, through Sour Mash Records. The album was produced by David Holmes. Who Built the Moon? was a work in progress since Chasing Yesterday was being recorded, Noel has stated in interviews that this album was being recorded not only during those sessions but also during the Chasing Yesterday World Tour.
About Who Built the Moon? Noel Gallagher’s third solo effort sees his high flying birds reach more psychedelic and experimental heights than ever before. Noel has described the songs as Cosmic pop. The title of the album is taking from a conspiracy theory book with the same name – the book has not inspired anything else on the album. In conversation with NME in April 2016, Noel revealed that for his third solo record he’ll be mixing things up in the creative process. I am doing something different this time, to amuse myself – I am writing in the studio for the first time. I haven’t put the lyrics on this album for the first time ever – of any album I’ve ever done. I’ve got people saying, Why not?
Who Built The Moon" is probably the bravest record Noel Gallagher has put out in his 25 year or so career in music. The bravest but not the"Who Built The Moon" is probably the bravest record Noel Gallagher has put out in his 25 year or so career in music. The bravest but not the best. Apparently, written from scratch in the studio this approach benefits in terms of the needed freshness it bring to Gallagher's sound. On the other hand, it means we lose out to some extent on his incredible talent for penning the more traditionally structured, acoustic guitar based verse-chorus-verse songs. While it's a little dazzling and overwhelming at first, I do love "Holy Mountain". It's a Beautiful World" is the album's standout track and up there with his best writing.
Gallagher has posted a kaleidoscopic video trailer featuring a clip of new music and some lyrics from the album. News of the album leaked before the formal announcement, prompting a response from Noel’s brother Liam, always eager to burn his former bandmate, on Twitter: Liam Gallagher.
Sound - 8 It's been nearly a decade since we got the last Oasis album ("Dig Out Your Soul", 2008). Things have changed since that time. After a continuous quarrel between brothers they have parted their ways. Liam has released two albums with his new band, Beady Eye. Noel in his turn formed the band called Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds back in 2009. Nearly two months ago at the age of 45 his younger brother has released his first solo effort - "As You Were"
It's hard to blame Noel Gallagher for opting for stability over adventure once he disbanded Oasis. After spending nearly 20 years battling his brother Liam, he needed to take things easy, and if his solo records - Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds (2011) and Chasing Yesterday (2015) - were a little too calm, consider it a consequence of navigating himself out of chaos. Despite achieving solo success, Gallagher seemed to have a nagging voice in the back of his head that he'd ceded the psychedelic ground he claimed at the height of Brit-pop.
