Anytime is the third album by Brian McKnight. This was the last record McKnight recorded with Mercury Records before moving to Motown. In fact, Anytime would be re-released on Motown after he signed with the label (as Mercury and Motown at the time were both owned by PolyGram). It broke into the top 20 on the Billboard 200 chart, and to date is McKnight's highest peaking album on the Top R&B Albums chart where it took the No. 1 position for three weeks

On his third album, Anytime, Brian McKnight continues with the mellow, romantic urban R&B that has become his trademark, but there's a new twist. Most of the album consists of songs he has written and produced, but "You Should Be Mine," the first single pulled from Anytime, is produced by Puff Daddy and features a rap by Mase. On paper, the pairing seems a little crass and commercial, but it works surprisingly well, as does "Hold Me," which was co-written by Mary J. Blige and features Trackmasterz

Anytime is a 1997 album by Brian McKnight. The single "You Should Be Mine (Don't Waste Your Time)" became his biggest hit in four years, peaking at on the Billboard Hot 100. It featured rapper Mase, whose own career was at its peak during 1997. The song "Anytime" was an even bigger hit, reaching on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay Chart in May 1998. Before I did the Anytime album, I was at the lowest point of my career; after that, my feet came right back to the ground. I understood that what I needed to do was to please my fans, make music that would get on the radio and please myself at the same time.

Brian McKnight (born June 5, 1969) is an American R&B singer-songwriter, arranger, producer, and musician. He is a t who plays piano, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet. McKnight is most recognized for his strong falsetto and belting range. McKnight's work has earned him 16 Grammy Awards nominations, though he has never won. He is third only to Morten Lindberg and Snoop Dogg for the record of most Grammy nominations without a win.
