Crossroads is the third studio album by Swedish Heavy Metal band Portrait. At the Ghost Gate: 01:4403.

Crossroads" deserves attention, because it combines traditional elements with modern song patterns. The guitars create a relatively vehement sound without worshipping fury as a value in itself. This is no album that starts extremely strong and ends very weak. Portrait wait to open the secret compartment of their treasure chest until the sixth song. This does not mean that the somehow fleet-footed songs on the positions one to five lack quality. The circling opening riff of "Black Easter", for instance, shows that the group is able to form catchy sections.

Crossroads, the third full length LP by Portrait, displays a sound reminiscent of Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, and Blind Guardian, and has a classic heavy metal feel to it. Liberation starts things off with some soothing acoustic guitar work, which turns into a slightly more melancholy minor key mid-way through; fear not, though, for the next track, At The Ghost Gate, will put to rest any fears that this is a folk album. Mikael Castervall provides some great bass lines, and has a few memorable moments on the album, like the bass riff on At The Ghost Gate.

Crossroads is the second album by singer-songwriter Tracy Chapman, released in 1989 (see 1989 in music). Chapman was also a producer on this album, the first time she had taken on such a role. Swedish heavy metal act PORTRAIT will release its new album, "Crossroads", on April 25 in Europe and April 29 in North America via Metal Blade Records. The first single from the record, "In Time", can be streamed below. This first single, 'In Time', was the first song written for 'Crossroads' and is one of the more straight-forward ones of the album.

After some line-up changes in 2012, Portrait began to focus on their third album, entitled "Crossroads". The writing and recording process took about a year and again Tore Stjerna of Necromorbus Studio handled the production with the band. This is our most important album up to date in so many ways, and we couldn't be more satisfied with the final outcome. To me personally, PORTRAIT has finally become what I have always wanted the band to be, and we are hungrier than ever. The new album will speak for itself, and the year 2014 will be a year of Truth and of Conquest.

Portrait are a Swe dish metal outfit who formed in 2006 (slight confusion here as some sites state 2004 however 2006 is sited on their official Metal Blade page) and are made up of Per Lengstedt on Vocals, Christian Lindell and David Olofsson on Guitars, Mikael Castervall on Bass and Anders Persson on the drums. Crossroads is their third full length album and was produced by Tore Stjerna at the Necromorbus Studio near Stockholm.
