Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk is the second studio album by Norwegian black metal band Emperor. It was released on 8 July 1997 through Candlelight Records and Century Black. The album was recorded in the Grieg Hall in Bergen, Norway. The opening guitar riff to "Ye Entrancemperium" is taken from an unnamed Mayhem song.

Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk. The cover art is an illustration by Doré. During the early writing period of this album (before Trym Torson joined), the band was rehearsing with a session drummer who went by the name of Mefisto. Also released on picture LP by Candlelight Records. The original US release on Century Black, and subsequent remastered versions, include bonus tracks: 09.

Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk is the second studio album by Norwegian black metal band Emperor, and was the album that first broke the band worldwide. The songs were written, mostly by Ihsahn, while the band’s other guitarist, Samoth, was serving a short jail sentence for church arson, and the album itself was recorded once the band was able to reconvene, with new drummer Trym Torson (ex-Enslaved) and bassist Alver. Sound quality is nothing special, but clear. But it has a gap between the first two tracks! So instead of running directly into that opening fill, there's a pause. It's a nice release, but because of that I want to get another copy where the intro blends into the fill.
