William Basinski (The Disintegration Loops, Melancholia, Watermusic) and Lawrence English (Wilderness of Mirrors, The Peregrine, Songs of the Living and the Lived In) have combined their artistic power to create a journey of emotional, unnerving and captivating soundscapes. Selva Oscura adds two designs to the collaborators already quite large catalogue of ambient works. Ambient, ultimately, is an abstract form of music. Lawrence English (born 1976) is a composer, artist and curator living in Brisbane, Australia. His work is broadly concerned with the politics of perception, specifically he is interested in the nature of listening and sounds' capability to occupy the body. He is the director of the imprint Room40, started in 2000. English's music is recognised as exploring "environmental and musical sources and is highly regarded for its intelligent invocation of perception, memory and space".

Lawrence English is an artist, composer, engineer, writer, and curator based in Brisbane, Australia. Some of his later work (such as the acclaimed Wilderness of Mirrors) is heavier and noisier, expressing bleakness, desolation, and loneliness through waves of distortion. English has released dozens of solo and collaborative recordings on labels including 12k, Line, and Touch. He also released two digital-only albums of field recordings (Songs of the Living, And the Lived In) on Room40. In 2013, Important Records issued English's vinyl-only drone album Lonely Women's Club. English's solo album Cruel Optimism appeared on Room40 in 2017.
