Renée Fleming’s new album Lieder, spanning six decades of German song, features songs by Brahms, Schumann, and Mahler, each of whom bring Romantic poetry to life. Fleming is partnered by her long-standing artistic collaborator Hartmut Höll on piano for songs by Brahms, including the beloved Brahms’ ‘Lullaby’, and also for Schumann’s ‘Frauenliebe Und-Leben’. She is joined by Christian Thielemann and the Munich Philharmonic for a performance of Mahler’s ‘Rückert Lieder’.

Renée Lynn Fleming (born February 14, 1959) is an American opera singer and soprano. Fleming has a full lyric soprano voice. She has performed coloratura, lyric, and lighter spinto soprano operatic roles in Italian, German, French, Czech, and Russian, aside from her native English. She has also sung chansons, jazz and indie rock. She speaks fluent German and French, along with limited Italian.

Renée Fleming has announced her new CD for Decca Classics. The soprano will release her first full-length Lieder album in almost two decades. Fleming is joined by Christian Thielemann and the Munich Philharmonic, performing Mahler’s Rückert Lieder. She will also perform songs by Schumann and Brahms with Hartmut Höll at the piano. In a press release, Fleming noted, The German lied is, for me, both the foundation and the pinnacle of song literature. I am especially excited to have been able to collaborate with some of the greatest interpreters in the world for this repertoire.
