A Day in the Life is an album by jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery that was released in 1967. It reached number one on the Billboard Jazz album chart and number 2 on the R&B chart. It also reached number 13 on the Billboard 200. The single "Windy" became his biggest Hot 100 hit when it peaked at number forty-four. After recording for Riverside and Verve, Montgomery signed with A&M. His renditions of pop hits were played regularly on Top 40 radio.

O what is that light I see flashing so clear Over the distance brightly, brightly? Only the sun on their weapons, dear, As they step lightly. O what are they doing with all that gear, What are they doing this morning, this morning? Only their usual manoeuvres, dear, Or perhaps a warning. Why are you kneeling? O haven't they stopped for the doctor's care, Haven't they reined their horses, their horses?

Holcomb’s ninth album is from Magnolia Records, and it is a slight. Medicine refrains from losing the band’s original sound and lyrical composition. Drew Holcomb and the Neighbors maintain the folk base with a rock backbone and that Tennessee twang is ever-present. American Beauty kicks off the album with some slow guitar-plucking, as Medicine’s first single may already be recognized by listeners since it appears in a recent commercial by Dick’s Sporting Goods. The second track, Tightrope, describes life’s difficulties: I feel like an old soul, I feel like a sinking ship.
