The Dead pretend they’re a singles band in this collection of their best-known shorter tracks. The cumulative results are distinguished, not by profundity or virtuosity, but by a characteristic pleasantness. The album boasts attractive melodies and supple rhythmic patterns. But the anthology also exposes some ongoing weaknesses: dull recorded sound, thin instrumental arrangements, frail vocals (except for Bob Weir’s occasional leads) and, more generally, music consistently without sufficient emotional depth or narrative strength. The selections are well chosen and the album’s 45 minutes are generous by current single-LP standards. In This Article: The Grateful Dead.
Band Name Grateful Dead. Album Name Skeletons From The Closet : The Best Of. Type Compilation. 9. Turn On Your Lovelight. 10. One More Saturday Night. 11. Friend Of The Devil. Other productions from Grateful Dead.
Well, aparently The Grateful Dead mixed those and came up with a more psychedelic Beatles song. 2. Truckin': This song is probably on the top 3 most popular Grateful Dead songs. Probably because of how careless it sounds. I find the lyrics to be great, like "What in the world ever became of Sweet Jane, she lost her sparkle you know she isn't the same. Livin' on Reds, Vitamin C and Cocaine. All a good friend could say is isn't it a shame. The rythm guitaring and bass fit in with the drums great. The lyrics by Bob Weir seem like they have a great meaning to them and are stacked great, like "Saw my baby down by the river!!, knew she'd have to come up soon for air". I think the guitaring and cymbal patterns are extremley unique.
Skeletons from the Closet has been long-lived as a Grateful Dead primer, though it was superseded by The Very Best of the Grateful Dead in 2003. Fans of the band's live show have noted that Skeletons only contains two live tracks from a band whose live shows are its strongest suit.
