The Cole Porter entry in Columbia House's The Great American Composers series may have contained performances of Cole Porter's best songs as performed by Columbia Records' artists over the years, but it did not contain Porter's most popular song hits of the 1940s and '50s, "True Love," "I Love You," and "Don't Fence Me In," and a. few of Porter's earlier hits, among them "Let's Do It (Let's Fall in Love)" and "What Is This Thing Called Love?" were also missing. Those omissions are eliminated in this. And not all the songs are up to Porter's usual standard. As such, this is an uneven album, though it has its moments and will provide some additional satisfaction to listeners who enjoyed the first volume.
