Gaalaas and Sparks would both guest on Kollman's 1999 solo album, 'Shedding Skin', before COSMOSQUAD became the focus once again, with the band contributing a wicked cover of the Paul DiAnno era Iron Maiden classic 'Murders in the Rue Morgue' (with guest vocals by Fates Warning frontman Ray Alder) to the 'Slave To The Power' tribute album as well as a brilliant. By then, COSMOSQUAD had also established themselves as a top draw at . s legendary venue, The Baked Potato, commemorated in 2001 with 'Live at the Baked Potato', a 70-minute tour-de-force of 'Squad highlights interspersed with tunes off the aforementioned 'Shedding Skin'. A Japan-only 'Best of Cosmosquad' album saw the light of day in 2003 in conjunction with the band's live activities in the Land of the Rising Sun that same year.

Cosmosquad - Live at the Baked Potato It was in 1997 when three hotshot upstarts with something to prove accidentally crossed paths at a Phoenix, Arizona rehearsal studio and had an instant musical connection. Guitarist Jeff Kollman, drummer Shane Gaalaas and bassist Barry Sparks combined their musical prowess with their love for all things rock into a three-piece instrumental juggernaut that they decided to call COSMOSQUAD. The rest, as they say, is history.

The album was considered kind of a continuation of COSMOSQUAD's self titled debut that the band often plays songs of "Shedding Skin" on their live sets. In 2000 as the band was beginning to get ready to tour, Barry leaves the band due to commitments with other bands during the year. Christopher Maloney which Jeff and Shane already knew would play with them during the year through out . In 2002 the band released their "Live at the Baked Potato" a compilation of recordings of the band playing throughout . Once again Barry found himself committed to other artists so Christopher took over bass duties once again for their tour. In 2007 Barry committed himself entirely to his solo work, eventually leading to his permanent departure from the band yet the remainder members of the band continued to write material as a duo.
