Equinox ov the Gods take two approaches in this album. The first approach are the tracks such as Welcome Home that sound less doomy and more Gothic, while the second approach creates tracks that are explicitly doom metal with some gothic influences, such as the vocals and keyboard riffs. I quite like this approach because that album does not feel like a slog comprising entirely of slow funeral marches. In this case, this diversity raises the quality of Images of Forgotten Memories. While the guitars do lead the charge musically, a keyboard melody is always present providing some seriously amazing backup which complements everything else. Wallin’s vocal performance is top notch with wails and screams all while retaining the ancient-vampire complex.
