Gerald "Gerry" Rafferty (16 April 1947 – 4 January 2011) was a Scottish rock singer-songwriter known for his solo hits "Baker Street", "Right Down the Line" and "Night Owl", as well as "Stuck in the Middle with You", recorded with the band Stealers Wheel. Rafferty was born into a working-class family in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. His mother taught him both Irish and Scottish folk songs as a boy; later, he was influenced by the music of The Beatles and Bob Dylan
Sleepwalking is the fifth studio album by Gerry Rafferty, released in 1982. It is the follow-up to the 1980 album Snakes and Ladders. It would be Rafferty's last album for Liberty/United Artists, and his last for six years. Sleepwalking was co-produced by Rafferty and Christopher Neil who went on to become the producer for Mike + The Mechanics. The album was reissued as a 2-CD set with Snakes and Ladders by EMI in August 2012. The track "The Right Moment" from this album was later recorded by Olivia Newton-John in 1985 for her Soul Kiss album. All tracks written and arranged by Gerry Rafferty.

Two years after the release of Night Owl, Gerry Rafferty presented his fans with Snakes & Ladders, and although some of his former album's charm and lyrical appeal manages to resurface, the whole of the album comes up short. The memorable melodies, moving allegories, or genuine lyrical warmth that was put into past efforts arise in a couple of tracks, like in the beauty of "Bring It All Home" or in the mystique of "Look at the Moon.
