Elvis Aaron Presley (January 8, 1935 – August 16, 1977), also known mononymously as Elvis, was an American singer, musician, and actor. Regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as the "King of Rock and Roll" or simply "the King"
Elvis Aaron Presley, in the humblest of circumstances, was born to Vernon and Gladys Presley in a two-room house in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8, 1935. His twin brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn, leaving Elvis to grow up as an only child. He and his parents moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 1948, and Elvis graduated from Humes High School there in 1953. Nancy was of particular interest to Gladys for her Jewish heritage, often remembering Nancy’s sons for their Jewish names Sidney and Jerome. Nancy and Abner had a daughter Martha who married White Mansell. The daughter which they named Octavia, nick-named Doll, who was Elvis’ maternal grandmother.

Elvis is the eighteenth studio album by American singer and musician Elvis Presley, released in July 1973. It sold over 1 million copies worldwide (despite being released soon after the much more successful Aloha from Hawaii). To differentiate it from his eponymous 1956 release it is sometimes called The "Fool" Album, after its first track. In the US "Fool" was issued as the B-side of "Steamroller Blues" from the Aloha from Hawaii Via Satellite album

Elvis had numerous NR 1 Hits accompanied with just as much albums that topped the charts. 1956 was the year he first starred in a movie; Love Me Tender, and went on to make 33 more films in his career. Elvis sadly died in his Memphis mansion on 16 August 1977, at the age of 42. The legend that is Elvis will never be forgotten. Although he never learned to read music or had professional training he still to this day inspires music and artists with his distinctive sound and style.
