Deconstruction is the only record released by the band of the same name, consisting of guitarist Dave Navarro and bassist Eric Avery from Jane's Addiction, plus drummer Michael Murphy. They wrote the album soon after splitting from Jane's Addiction, the other half of which went on to form Porno for Pyros at the same time. The executive producer was Rick Rubin.

The end result is less an album than a collection of sessions and explorations, sometimes comparing favorably and sometimes not to the original group the two made their names with. Avery handles the majority of singing, and while he wisely doesn't try to create a knockoff of the patented Farrell whine and howl, his often staccato speak-singing isn't always the best of substitutes
