Recorded at Nashville's Battle Tapes and Alex The Great in 2005, and released by Theory 8 Records in 2006, Apollo Up's sophomore album Chariots of Fire was called "A brash mix of etched-in-your-mind melodies and interesting song construction" by the Cincinnati Citybeat and "a bracing, thoroughly enjoyable affair" by the Nashville Scene.

Chariots of Fire is a great record to put on if you're feeling pissed off. Or, hell, if you just want to listen to some great angry rock. I hate trying to categorize some music into a genre because that sort of thing is just so subjective and debatable. Apollo Up! sounds to me as though they have punk/hardcore rock roots, but the musicianship is more evolved and complex than most bands that come to mind in that genre. I've had the CD ever since, and have held onto this album as a blueprint of a great rock album. Straight ahead, pedal to the floor rock, guitar solos, beefy bass lines and heavy uptempo drums. Vocals have a raw Elvis Costello feel and sit perfectly over the mix.
