Jerry Goldsmith's score, alternating robust heroics with alien mystique, is arguably the most memorable element of Star Trek: The Motion Picture; indeed, its main theme has heralded the voyages of the Enterprise in TV and film adventures ever since. Finally I'm hearing the music tracks that should have been released back in 1979! I was a senior in high school when this album and movie were released. It's funny, but I never realized that this expanded album existed until recently. The track I've always most wanted to own is next to the last track where the Enterprise is majestically floating away from us then warping away in a flash of color and light. That musical cue still excites me when I hear it!
