This delightful album catches the Four Knights at the beginning of their recording career (1945-1950), and features 27 of their Lang-Worth radio transcriptions (recordings made for radio shows that made it appear the artist was live in the studio) along with a couple of their early singles for Decca Records

The Four Knights were an American vocal group from Charlotte, North Carolina. The group was formed in 1943, with an original membership of Gene Alford (lead tenor), Oscar Broadway (bass), Clarence Dixon (baritone), and John Wallace (tenor, guitar). This line-up remained the same for much of the band's career. They recorded transcription discs for Langworth Records in the middle of the decade and changed their name to The Four Knights in 1945. They first sang under the name Southland Jubilee Singers, and performed gospel music as well as vocal pop and doo-wop numbers

In 1950, the Four Knights had a rough year, with no new recordings and a loss of their Red Skelton contract. In listening to the tracks, it doesn't sound like Alford. This album is interesting in another aspect - it's what you would classify as a theme or concept LP, which was somewhat unusual for the time. All the songs on the LP have the word "baby" in them, such as "Baby Face" and "Pretty Baby.
