What often gets lost in the history of reggae, for all its trademark repatriation and Rasta themes, is that it started as a dance craze in the dancehall yards of Kingston. Named after the first song to feature the term ("Do the Reggay" by the Maytals), Do the Reggay: The Early Reggae Recordings 1968-69 traces the early years of the genre as it was transforming from the frenetic horn-driven ska period into the slower rocksteady era, which in turn gave birth to the classic roots recordings of the. early '70s

The 1968–69 NHL season was the 52nd season of the National Hockey League. Twelve teams each played 76 games (two more than in 1967–68). For the second time in a row, the Montreal Canadiens faced the St. Louis Blues in the Stanley Cup finals. Montreal won their second consecutive Stanley Cup as they swept the Blues in four, an identical result to the previous season.

Reggae (/ˈrɛɡeɪ/) is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. Nekora
My copy plays Pioneers 'Love, Love Everyday' instead of Errol Dunkley, Love Brother... Bongo Jah is significantly shorter than the 7" version... Wicked Must Survive is different (but better) than the 7" AMG... Great album though which draws together a decent selection of Amalgamated offerings..

Dodgy cover art aside, this is a pretty great and great sounding comp of Joe Gibbs produced sides from the very early Reggae period (1968-1972). Standout tracks include the likes of Errol Dunkley, The Royals and The Slickers - all of whom had greater things in store for them down the line.
