Miklós Rózsa (Hungarian pronunciation: ) or Miklos Rozsa (18 April 1907 – 27 July 1995) was a Hungarian-born composer and conductor, best known for his numerous film scores. Along with such composers as Bernard Herrmann, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Alfred Newman, Max Steiner and Franz Waxman, Rózsa is considered to be one of the "founding fathers of film music. Miklós Rózsa studied the violin from the age of five. In 1926, he began studying at the Leipzig Conservatory. In 1929, his violin concerto was performed there.
But!!! This film had one of the greatest and moving scores - typical of such a fine and talented composer as Miklos Rozsa. Though 'King of Kings' the story might have lost something in the story to me, the wonderful music has kept it one of my library classics and will make me watch it and get caught up in it right from the overture. Miklos Rozsa was the last of the Master Composers from Hollywood's "Golden Age". This score was written just 2 years after his masterpiece, Ben-Hur (possibly the best movie score ever composed. It was an amazing achievement to come up with such original music considering he was revisiting the same genre with similar material so soon.

The original 1961 album with a King of Kings score actually contained re-recordings of music used in the soundtrack (though composer Miklos Rozsa did conduct). A 1990s CD did have music from the actual film soundtrack, but featured only about half of the score heard in the movie. This 2002 Rhino double CD has about 135 minutes in all, including some extended versions of cues that are longer than those heard in the film, marking the first release of the complete score. As such it must be considered the definitive soundtrack to the epic, and boasts a suitably grandiose, often pompous flavor.
