I would never have picked this up on my own in a million years, but now that I own Lapsley's debut I think the VMP folks made a wise choice. For context, I have vey eclectic music tastes. My record collection has everything from extreme metal to 80s new wave to hip hop. With that said, pop is typically not on my radar. To my ears, Lapsley's album is a beautiful collection of dream pop songs with some r&b influences. I can also hear some of the gothy production touches you might hear on a Chelsea Wolfe album. It's a perfect late night listen with a glass of scotch.
