Mit Fried Und Freud Ich Fahr Dahin (BWV 125). B. Ich Steh Mit Einem Fuss Im Grabe (BWV 156). Composed By – Johann Sebastian Bach. Conductor – Helmuth Rilling. Orchestra – Bachcollegium Stuttgart. Other Versions (1 of 1) View All. Cat.

Helmuth Rilling (b. 1933) recorded all of Johann Sebastian Bach's (1685-1750) sacred Cantatas between 1970 and 1985, with the Bach Collegium Stuttgart and in some cases, Württemburg Chamber Orchestra on 70 CDs as presented here. I find this to be an excellent set: the performances are excellent even if the recording job is in some cases not as clear as the later, digital recordings. Some writers are too critical of Rilling's set, which I believe to be excellent

Bach composed the cantata for the Marian feast of the Annunciation, always celebrated on 25 March, which fell on Palm Sunday in 1714. Other than in Leipzig, where tempus clausum was observed during Lent and no cantatas were permitted, Bach could perform in Weimar a cantata especially meant for the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Die Kantaten von Johann Sebastian Bach (in German). Deutscher Taschenbuchverlag.

The world premiere of Bach's complete motets on film! A masterly and controlled performance by the Gächinger Kantorei and the Bach-Collegium Stuttgart, conducted by Helmuth Rilling, recorded in the parish church of Oberkaufingen.

He studied organ at the Stuttgart College of Music, in Rome and in Siena. In 1954, while still a student, Helmuth Rilling founded his first choir, the 40-member Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart, with which he gained an international reputation. From 1957 he was organist and choirmaster at the Stuttgart Gedächtniskirche. From the mid 1960s he was leader of the Bachcollegium Stuttgart and the Frankfurter Kantorei, from 1969 to 1986 he was professor at the Frankfurt Music College. First principal conductor of Real Filharmonía De Galicia between 1996 to 1998.
