Altered Images were an early 1980s Scottish new wave/post-punk band. Fronted by singer Clare Grogan, the band branched into mainstream pop music, having six UK top 40 hit singles and three top 30 albums between 1981 and 1983. Their hits included "Happy Birthday", "I Could Be Happy", "See Those Eyes", and "Don't Talk to Me About Love".

Profilo: Post-punk group formed in Glasgow, 1979. Originally comprising Clare Grogan (vocals), Tony McDaid (guitar), John McElhone (bass), Gerard "Caesar" McInulty (guitar) and Michael "Tich" Anderson (drums). McInulty left in 1981 to form The Wake with Jim McKinven (guirar/keyboards) replacing him. They soon adopted synthpop stylings under the influence of producers including Martin Rushent and Mike Chapman. The group split in 1983 (Anderson and McKinven had already left the previous year).

The Epic Years collects everything Altered Images recorded and released in their short career as the world's most cheerful pop band. Only three albums and a handful of singles between 1979 and 1983 and they were done. Placed together in a collection like this, there's a clear progression from album to album: first, a band getting its sound together; then a band that seemed to promise something brilliant; and finally one that did just that before coming to a sudden stop.
