Greazy Meal - March 2, 1997 flac album

Greazy Meal was the house band every sunday evening at The Cabooze Bar in Minneapolis, MN for 2 1/2 years, 1995 into 1997, after which they discontinued their regular house gig to explore opportunities around the rest of the country. Due to popular demand, they returned to the Cabooze for Sunday nights through the last three months of 1998. In 1996, the band released their first CD of original tunes that leaned heavily on their funky/soul beginnings. That disc, "Visualize World Greaze" was soon followed by a remix album of those songs entitled "Digitalize World Greaze"

Greazy Meal slow songs apart, a wonderful Madhouse-esque record. I saw them live at First Avenue in Minneapolis in 1997. First time being at First Avenue, and first time seeing them live. A former Prince sideman and co-founder of Greazy Meal, Brian Gallagher had the right mix of professionalism, musical chops and personal likability that made him a go-to saxophonist, flutist and bassist for countless other Twin Cities rock, funk and R&B bands. The versatile musician died unexpectedly Thursday of a pulmonary embolism. He made a strong impression early into his NPG stint with a swaggering solo in Sexy MF, from 1992’s so-called Love Symbol Album. He was also featured on later records such as Emancipation, Come and The Gold Experience. He continued playing with Meal singer Julius Collins in a variety of other bands, including Smart Mouth and the rocking gospel group Sons of Almighty; the latter group featured Collins, NPG/Greazy keyboardist Tommy Barbarella and former NPG bandmates Michael Bland and Sonny Thompson.
