Popcorn" is an early synth-pop instrumental, composed by Gershon Kingsley in 1969 and first appearing on his album Music to Moog By. It was recorded at the Audio Fidelity Records label in New York City. The title may refer to the short staccato or sharp "popping" sound used, or to pop music and its being "corny", . The title is generally written as one word, although some single sleeves (such as the one illustrated) present it as two words, "Pop Corn".

Hot Butter was an instrumental group of session players and was fronted by the keyboard player Stan Free. Free picked up Gershon Kingsley's track 'Pop Corn', covered it and had a global hit in 1972. Hot Butter made 2 albums filled with mostly covers: 'Hot Butter' and 'More Hot Butter'. HikaShop Content Module. 750,00 RUB за единицу Hack Hack "Despite Amputations" mini-Album.

Talk about Hot Butter - Pop Corn (Version Originale)

According to my Dad this was the first record i had ever heard because he used to play it loads while my Mum was pregnant with me in Germany in 1973! A great catchy piece of music that without the genius of Bob Moog would have never exsisted . This track has also been used for various TV programmes and adverts over the last 30 or so years! And when I heard the filtered breakbeat version in the mid 90s that Mr.Richard James aka Aphex Twin did on the Joyrex series I knew we grew up listening to the same kinda sounds!!!! A classic piece of electronic history.

In 1972, the Moog was hot when Gershon Kingsley came up with this song "Popcorn". It was dancable, catchy, and featured the Moog. Suprizingly (or maybe not, this was the 1970s,) it became a bit of a hit.

Gershon Kingsley (formerly Götz Gustav Ksinski, b. in Bochum, Germany, 1922 - fled to USA in '37) wrote this in '69. Before that, he'd made several LPs with Frenchie Jean-Jacques Perrey during the 60s. The song on this page is American Hot Butter's 1972 version, the most wellknown and most sold out of some 50 versions...). Hot Butter was really Stan Free (formerly Stanley Friedman, 1922-95), who'd already recorded the song the very same year with Gershon Kingsley's First Moog Quartet, where he played keyboard. Then he got five session musicians to make this, the Hot Butter version, as well as 2 LPs and s'more singles.
