Black Eyes was an American post-punk band from Washington, . that existed from August 2001 to March 2004, disbanding two months prior to the release of their second album, Cough. Its members included Dan Caldas, Jacob Long, Mike Kanin, Daniel Martin-McCormick and Hugh McElroy. Prior to releasing the first album, Black Eyes released a 2-song 7" EP and a split EP of "Someone Has His Fingers Broken" entitled "Have Been Murdered Again.

Black Eyes formed in August of 2001 and the band’s first full-length arrived two years later via Dischord. Their shows were chaotic and often melted down into frenzied jam sessions. A second full-length, "Cough", came out in May of 2004. The album introduced saxophone to the mix and relied more heavily on improvisational and dub influences. The band broke up shortly before the album was released.

Black Eyes' live show is a confounding orb of energy: two drum kits, sometimes a third percussionist, two bassists, two vocalists, and a rotation of variable instruments. To the human eye, they're a funhouse of tiny, screaming singers twitching about with the herky-jerky motion of flipbook animation. five-piece that sounds like ten (or at least moves like that many), and they promote an equally convulsive squawking of rhythmic, sometimes experimental and gauzy, dubby post-punk that sits on the same sonic fence as Savage Republic and Swell Maps.
