This piano trio is commonly known as the Archduke Trio because of its dedication to Archduke Rudolph of Austria. It was completed in March 1811 but not premiered until three years later in Vienna due to Beethoven’s increasing deafness. It is divided into four movements: Allegro moderato. Allegro moderato – Presto. "Archduke" Piano Trio in B-flat major, Op. 97" Track Info. Written By Ludwig van Beethoven. Release Date April 11, 1814. L. Ludwig van Beethoven. Archduke" Piano Trio in B-flat major, Op. 97 Lyrics.

Beethoven himself, looking back at his life's work, considered the Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97, of 1810-1811, to be among his very finest creations. The work is universally known as the "Archduke" Trio because, like many Beethoven works, it is dedicated to the composer's patron Archduke Rudolph; less justifiable is its place in the catalog as the Piano Trio No. 7 - for, while there are piano trios to which the numbers 8 through 12 have been assigned, the "Archduke" is actually Beethoven's last. Generations of performing pianists and string players have agreed with Beethoven's judgment, and the work has, perhaps to the unjust neglect of Beethoven's many other piano trios, cornered the market for late Classical piano trios. In the "Archduke" Trio, for really only the second or third time in piano trio history, both the violin and cello achieve a status truly equal to that of the piano.

The Piano Trio in Bb major, Op. 97 is a work for piano, violin, and cello, finished in 1811. Commonly referred to as the Archduke Trio -because of its dedication to Archduke Rudolph of Austria, an amateur pianist, friend and student of Beethoven- this work was written late in the so called 'middle-period'. Louis Spohr wrote: "In forte passages the poor deaf man pounded.

97 'Archduke': Allegro moderato 2. Beethoven: Piano Trio in B flat major, Op. 97 'Archduke': Scherzo (Allegro) 3. 97 'Archduke': Andante cantabile ma però con moto. Poco più adagio 4. 97 'Archduke': Allegro moderato – Presto One of the very greatest of the legendary series of chamber music recordings made by the USSR state record company Melodiya and featuring the cream of Soviet musicians. A truly unforgettable performance. Got it. + add. album.
