The Gloryholes ‎– Want A Divorce. Label: Dirtnap Records ‎– ZZZ-22. Want A Divorce ‎(LP, Album, Blu).

LP - Dirtnap Records. Mix two parts New Bomb Turks-style punk blamalama and one part neo-Makers garage raunch and you start getting an idea of what to expect from the sophomore release by the Gloryholes. Doug White's high-attitude vocals represent above-average larynx abuse, and Shelly Corwin and Chris Kenan's speedy but solid guitar work gives him just the backdrop he needs (and the backing vox from Corwin, Kenan, and bassist Melanie Belanger lends this a nice "Shadow quality).

I've got a couple Gloryholes releases on my hard drive. Still never knew anything about them. And after this fresh listen I'm not sure if I had ever listened before. Too bad, because this is a very entertaining album. And here's a little of what I learned about the band: Seattle punk rockers the Gloryholes mix the snotty drive of old-school punk rock with the hooks and attitude of garage rock, and the result is a high-energy onslaught suitable for teenage vandalism or dancing the pogo. What's not to like? I don't know why they'd want a divorce

Glory holes have always struck me as absurd. It’s used by a bunch of gays in the neighborhood who want ‘fast-food sex,’ Beastly explains, and more than a couple of non-gay-identified guys who get off on the anonymity. Those, combined with a deep dive into the internet’s seedy underbelly, left me knowing more than I ever wanted to - and plenty I definitely did not - about the allure of this decidedly inglorious passage.

The Gloryholes were formed in 2000 by singer Doug White, former frontman of the . .By the time the band released their second long-player, The Gloryholes Want a Divorce, Reeder had departed and Eric Fenner stepped in to take his place. However, Fenner was also playing with another band at the same time, and before Want a Divorce could be released, Fenner left to devote more time to his other project, the Ones. The drum throne was then taken over by Johnny Machine.
