The Heptones - Country Boy flac album

In 1975, The Heptones signed an album deal with Island Records. Two albums resulted: Night Food in 1976 and Party Time in 1977. Night Food was produced by Danny Holloway, and featured several re-recorded Studio One classics, as well as originals such as "Country Boy" and "Mama Say". The group toured England with Toots & The Maytals to support Night Food's release. In 1977, The Heptones recorded Party Time with Lee "Scratch" Perry.

A country boy moves to Kingston, and the Heptones chart his progress with growing annoyance. There again, considering his behavior, he doesn't deserve much sympathy as he runs wild through the town "shooting up the place" with "a ratchet in his waist. Unlike the trio, producer Harry J. obviously felt either a sneaking admiration for this wild child or pity for a lad new to town and unfamiliar with its ways. Country Boy" was a huge hit in Jamaica and, two years later, appeared on their debut Island Records album, Night Food. Unfortunately, that was a very different version, softened for white sensibilities by a weaker rhythm and a lush string section. A fine version was recorded over two decades later for the group's reunion Pressure album, which beautifully captured the charm of the original.
