Rainbow are an English-American hard rock band originally from Hertford, Hertfordshire. Formed in February 1975 by then-Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, the original lineup of the group also included former Elf members Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Craig Gruber (bass), Gary Driscoll (drums) and Micky Lee Soule (keyboards), who recorded and released the self-titled album Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow that year.
Rainbow (also known as Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow or Blackmore's Rainbow) are a British rock supergroup led by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, active from 1975 until 1984, 1993 until 1997, and 2015 until present. They were originally established with Ronnie James Dio's American rock band Elf, but after their first album, Blackmore fired the backing members and continued with Dio until 1979.
Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow (sometimes stylised Ritchie Blackmore's R-A-I-N-B-O-W) is the first studio album by American/British rock band Rainbow, released in 1975. During studio sessions in Tampa Bay, Florida on 12 December 1974, Blackmore originally planned to record the solo single "Black Sheep of the Family"- a cover of a track by the band Quatermass from 1970 - and the newly composed "Sixteenth Century Greensleeves", which was to be the B-side.
1975 - Ritchie Blackmore& Rainbow. 1978 - Long Live Rock&.1979 - Down To Earth. 1981 - Difficult To Cure. 1982 - Straight Between The Eyes. 1983 - Bent Out Of Shape.
Version 1 (This version): Rainbow Band's debut album was first recorded July and August 1970 and released December same year with vocals by Lars Bisgaard. Version 2: After vocalist Bisgaard was replaced by Allan Mortensen in December 1970 they re-recorded the album and re-released it in February 1971 in this 2nd version with same band name and artwork. On this version the lyrics for "Where Do You Live" were altered and the track renamed "Talkin". It also has one new track, "Sippin' Wine"
Rainbow Rising was hailed as an instant classic upon its release in 1976. In the dark, smoke-filled basement disco of the Tokyo Hilton, the night is in full swing. The music throbs with a mid-tempo pulse, as salary men with open collars, loosened ties and uncomfortable paunches knock back the sake. Refined-looking and impeccably dressed hostesses hover in the background, circling their prey with casual yet purposeful intent.

I have seen them now on a number of occasions with this current line-up and they seem to be getting. Ronnie’s voice last night was sub real.
