Rino Gaetano (born Salvatore Antonio Gaetano in Crotone, Calabria on 29 October 1950; died in Rome on 2 June 1981) was an Italian singer-songwriter of the 1970s who combined commercial pop and rock influences with traditional Italian styles.

Salvatore Antonio "Rino" Gaetano (29 October 1950 – 2 June 1981) was an Italian musician and singer-songwriter. He is remembered for his rough voice, for the heavily ironic lyrics of his songs and his social protests. He died in a car accident at age 30. He was a popular and influential figure, widely re-evaluated by 2000s music.

Rino Gaetano's cult status seems only to grow bigger with every passing year in Italy, with a TV miniseries based on his life, and a number of collections and posthumous releases appearing in the last five years. The latest entry is Rino Gaetano: Live & Rarities, a title that says it all: a double-CD set, the first disc consisting of ten unreleased demos or hard to find sides, and the second of live material coming mostly from a 1977 concert at San Cassiano.
