Icarus is the fourth album by American musical group Paul Winter Consort. It was recorded in 1971 for the Epic Records label and released in 1972. It was re-released by Epic in 1978 and by Living Music in 1984. The album was produced by George Martin.

Formed by Paul Winter in 1967, The Winter Consort became one of the earliest exponents of world music, combining elements from various African, Asian, and South American cultures with jazz. By 1980 the group name had been changed to The Paul Winter Consort. The Consort has won a total of four Grammy Awards. The first was for the album "Spanish Angel" (1994), a live album recorded in Spain.

The Paul Winter Consort was founded in 1967 by Paul Winter, who had already begun a promising career as a jazz saxophonist in the early sixties. After hearing the songs of humpback whales, he was inspired to create a new form of music which would bring together elements of music from around the world as well as animal songs, thus creating an orchestra of the entire world.
