Armed Love is the (International) Noise Conspiracy's step into the big time, boasting an expansive Rick Rubin production and cameos from Billy Preston and Benmont Tench (made necessary by the departure of organist Sara Almgren). The indie purist can't help but fear that the sky has fallen, and while it does seem a long way from their Swedish hardcore roots to working with the wrong kind of Heartbreaker, once you get over the slightly glossier surface, Armed Love is still a great rock & roll record with a revolutionary bent, much like their previous work.
Feel the gravity under your feet now Blowing speakers, trying to figure out how To turn it up and turn it loose tonight. To have rhythm and revolution Seems like an easy solution But right now we're gonna set it all on fire

Rock and politics collide on the musical call to Armed Love. Fueled by the potent quasi-Marxist political slant of Gang of Four and early Manic Street Preachers and wed to a sonic bent that's a fervent hybrid of ‘60s garage thrash and nascent ‘70s punk abandon, Sweden's International Noise Conspiracy seem unlikely candidates for big-budget American modern rock crossover potential.
