Taarma's style is sharp and very jangly which actually suits the conditions under which he must have recorded this demo. There is a lot of howling winter-storm ambience which helps to cover up unwanted noise and hiss. The first track "Winter Howls upon Ancient Zhob" actually benefits from these and other limitations and problems: the track arises from the blizzard as if it is part of that natural phenomenon. Taarma man Black Emperor Jogezai (BEJ for convenience from here on) sings in a echoing, wasted-wraith voice

Demo II. Taarma - 85%. norestnopeace, November 2nd, 2006. It meets no other requirements than a reptilian necessity, and honors no greater purpose than itself. As one first engages unto the album(s) musical cataclysm, he or she might wonder if this inhuman, almost mechanically demonic delivery is the product of some sentient cyborg bereft of anything remotely human. But alas, that sense of anguish spilling out between every played note from any of the album's dark icy somber compositions reassuringly convince us otherwise.

Taarma is a one-man depressive black metal project from Zhob, Balochistan, a landlocked region between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran. The project was the brainchild of a man who calls himself Black Emperor Jogezai, who was also an ex-member of the band Black Arts. Formed in 1999, Taarma has released 3 demos to date, and has been through three labels. The current label is Ancient Dreams Records, who put Taarma's second full-length, "Beyond the Cemetery Gates", out on cassette.
