Kun Woo Paik was born in Seoul. He gave his first concert, aged 10, with the Korean National Orchestra, playing Grieg's Piano Concerto. In the following years he performed many important works in Korea, including several local premieres such as Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition. Paik has recorded the complete Prokofiev piano concertos with Antoni Wit and the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra for RCA (Diapason d'or in 1993), the complete Rachmaninoff piano concertos with Vladimir Fedoseyev and the Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra (BMG), as well as several solo CDs of Scriabin, Liszt, Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff and Mendelssohn piano music. Only 1 left in stock (more on the way). Temporarily out of stock. I became acquainted with these concertos back in the 1980's while dating a pianist in the Dallas symphony orchestra. The adagio in the G Concerto is one of the most moving and beautiful I have heard. My friend said that the recording of Pascal Roge under the direction of Charles Dutoit with the Montreal orchestra was the best she had heard, and after hearing many variation over the years I now agree with her.
