In a motel Sleeping in the shower I can feel you close Like the ocean. Wanna tell you I've been waiting so long When I'm sober. My soul comes screeching Screeching. Fuck the notion That you should be higher I've been lost in a fog For forever. Wanna tell you I been watching so long When I'm sober. The world is radical And I wait for it To shine on the stage That I built The world is radical And I wait for it To rain.

Dilly Dally - Sober Motel. It’s rare that a band can pour so much of themselves into a song and still manage to make it an enjoyable listen. As they ramp up to the release of their second album, Dilly Dally are taking time to reflect on what their first did to them as a band motels (but mainly the first two). Sober Motel’ stems from Dilly Dally bass player Tony’s struggles with addiction, and the resulting song is a strained, exhausted masterpiece. The track itself is a frustrated blast of sound, with singer Katie Monks’ vocals starting softly but quickly twisting into an emotional barrage, carried along by a wailing guitar.

Back in June, Dilly Dally announced their forthcoming sophomore album Heaven with its slow-burning lead single I Feel Free. The Toronto-based quartet follow up today with a murky ode to sobriety called Sober Motel. Katie Monks thunders and crackles, her signature wicked howl on full display: When I’m sober my soul comes screeching.

New single "Sober Motel" is a brooding and emotive track that follows on from "I Feel Free", which arrived in June with the album announcement. Sober Motel" holds a personal message for the group, which guitarist/vocalist Katie Monks explains, "'Sober Motel' is a celebration of sobriety, in the midst of an industry that is anything but. I wrote it in a motel bathroom after taking a mystical shower alone
